lyrics

A CHAIN CAFE

They drove to the edge of town.
He reaches his hand to soothe her doubts.
She doesn’t know what thoughts,
have kept him thinking.
Thinking of how he’s tried
to give her the love that she desires,
nights on the couch
waiting for the imposing disaster.
He spoke a bit too loud,
everyone put their teacups down.
In a chain cafe he served it plain,
and what he sips is his and her’s the same,
but from their seats it seems
that love is running out.
They met in the parking lot
after they had their nails pressed on.
Eatin’’ their scones with a wink
masking generous treason.
Mary and Claire quote Chanel.
Sayin’’ to Kim she’s not acting herself.
Passing her pamphlets on Paxil
and cards from their doctors.
Kim spoke a bit too loose,
A little girl watching spilled her juice.
In a chain cafe...
When no one knows what someone’s problem is,
but they make it seem
like its their own personal business
then what is real or just a deep misleading
You’ll never know cuz you’ve been listening
but not breathing.
In a chain cafe...
